Klub Felis in Prague.
Roderick is a bit past his prime and does not win the exhibition as often anymore. His masters have also grown a bit older and the visitors fewer. How does one keep his social status in such a situation? It could even happen that some youngsters would not recognize him, should he meet them. That can’t happen! He must do something about it!
And so it was Roderick who founded the Felis Club some time ago; a place for cats to meet each other. There are two groups who visit the clubs – street cats and domestic cats. It will come as no surprise that there is not much love between these two groups. Ones love fresh mice, the others enjoy parading at exhibitions, and each group has its own – and the only true – view of the world.
As every year, they have all come together to compete for the title of Cat of the Year. Who shall win? Will it be the owner of the fluffiest fur? Or the strongest tomcat? That will depend on the players.
That is how the larp Klub Felis, which has recently taken place in the Kobylisy Children and Youth Centre, seemed to me. The game itself was preceded by several hours of practical preparation, which introduced the cats’ point of view and behaviour to the players – some people would be quite surprised if we greeted each other by rubbing against one another cheeks.
The larp was certainly interesting, but from the players’ point of view, the preparation, which took up all day, might be a bit above-standard, when compared to the three hours of the actual roleplaying. And what it all looked like may be seen from the photos from the preparation and the larp itself.
